Former U.S. Marines Sergeant Forced to Pay Back Almost $18k for Not Getting the COVID Shot
Former U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Mitchell Schaefer is being forced to pay back the military $17,878.23 as the remaining balance of his $20k re-enlistment bonus.
Schaefer refused to cave on taking the COVID-19 shot and it’s costing him $504.31 per month on top of a discharge from the military. If he doesn’t pay each month, the military stated a collection agency would be contacted. As a result, Schaefer, who had a stellar reputation according to his fellow service members, was forced to move his family of four in with his parents because they could not afford their own home.
Schaefer is but one example of hundreds of other service members with similar stories of mistreatment even though the military rescinded the COVID vax mandate on January 10, 2023. For thousands of faithful service members who experienced punishment for holding fast to their beliefs, the announcement by the DOD was too little, too late.
Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said, “Repealing the COVID shot mandate for military members does not end the abuse meted against our service members. Our military members who love God and America have been horribly abused and they must be honored again. The Biden administration must push the reset button, stop the abuse, and rectify the wrongs done to our brave military heroes.”
